2020 Hyundai i20 launched in India at INR 6.79 lakh, 25 segment best features

Hyundai has launched the all-new i20 premium hatchback in India at prices starting from INR 6.79 lakh ex-showroom. Prices are introductory and will be increased from January 2021. Prices mentioned below are applicable across the country and deliveries of the new i20 will start as soon as the customers cut the cheque. The 2020 Hyundai i20 will be available in petrol and diesel engine options along with multiple gearbox choices to please the premium hatchback buyers.

As mentioned below, the baseline 1.2L petrol is available across all trims while the same 1.2L motor with an IVT / CVT gearbox is only sold in the Sportz and Asta trim. The 1.0L turbo petrol with iMT is sold only in the Sportz and Asta trim while the 7-speed DCT of the 1.0L turbo-petrol comes only in the top Asta & Asta (O) trims. The diesel engine option with the 1.5L motor is sold in the Magna, Sportz and Asta (O) trims only. Also note, there will be an optional dual tone paint scheme if you wish.

The most exciting motor on the all-new 2020 Hyundai i20 is the 1.0L, Kappa Turbo GDi 3-cylinder block which produces 120 PS of power @ 6000 RPM and 17.5 kgm of torque @ 1500 – 400- RPM matched to either a 7-speed DCT or a 6-speed iMT gearbox. This engine claims to deliver a mileage of 20.25 kmpl. The iMT gearbox comes with creep function for ease of use in traffic and also increases the clutch life as the clutch is optimally operated by the car itself.

The 1.2L baseline Kappa petrol motor is a 4-cylinder block producing 83 PS of power in manual transmission options @ 6000 RPM and 88 PS of power @ 6000 RPM with the IVT / CVT transmission. Both the gearboxes get the same 11.7 kgm of torque @ 4200 RPM while the mileage claim is 20.35 kmpl for the manual and 19.65 kmpl for the automatic.

The 1.5L, u2 CRDi diesel engine is also a 4-cylinder block producing 100 PS of peak power @ 4000 RPM and 24.5 kgm of torque @ 1500 – 2750 RPM matched to a 6-speed manual gearbox only. At the moment, there is no plan of a diesel automatic for the new i20. The diesel model claims a fuel efficiency figure of 25.2 kmpl.

The 2020 Hyundai i20 is going to be loaded with 25 best in class and segment first features which will give it an edge over competition. The new i20 also has 26 new features compared to the old model making it a worthy upgrade. Features of the new 2020 Hyundai i20 include LED projector headlamps, projector fog lamps, Z shaped LED tail lamps, digital TFT MID with digital speedometer cluster, 10.25″ touchscreen infotainment, 7-speaker Bose sound system, puddle lamps, 16″ diamond cut alloy wheels, blue ambient lights, 6 airbags, TPMS, stability control, hill assist control, air purifier, reverse camera with dynamic grid lines, BlueLink connected car features with OTA updates, electric sunroof, leatherette seat covers, wireless charging, etc.
