Hyundai has launched the all-new 2020 Hyundai i20 in the UK at prices starting GBP 18,595. In the UK, the new Hyundai i20 will be offered with only a single powertrain option, but two gearboxes are being offered. However, the India-spec i20 is likely to be offered with naturally-aspirated petrol, a turbo-petrol and a turbo-diesel engine options which are expected to come with Manual, CVT automatic, a 7-speed DCT automatic and an iMT clutch pedal-less intelligent manual transmission.

The UK-spec Hyundai i20 is powered by yet another change in the powertrain department. The engine powering the i20 in the UK comes with a 48-Volt Hybrid system that is unlikely to be made available in the Indian market. Powering the i20 in the UK is a Euro5-compliant 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbocharged GDi petrol engine combined with a 48v Hybrid powertrain that makes 100 PS of power and 172 Nm of torque matched to a 6-speed iMT clutch-pedal-less gearbox or an automatic 7-speed DCT (Dual Clutch Transmission).

The Hyundai i20 features highlights such as halogen projector headlamps with static cornering function, LED daytime running lights, 16-inch alloy wheels on the entry-level trim and 17-inch alloy wheels on higher variants, a 10.25-inch supervision instrument cluster with customisable functions, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear lever, cruise control with speed limiter function, manual air conditioning, rearview camera and electrically adjustable and heated wing mirrors and front and rear parking sensors.

Higher-spec variants also include Hyundai Advanced Bluelink telematics, Smart Key with keyless entry and engine start/stop button, a wireless charging pad for compatible devices, automatic air conditioning with climate control, heated front seats, heated steering wheel and front armrest, interior mood lighting, LED headlights, LED rear combination lamps, front fog lamps, power-folding door mirrors, privacy glass, auto-dimming IRVM, automatic wipers, etc.

The Hyundai i20 also comes with Hyundai’s SmartSense safety package as the standard part of the pack. The package offers E-Call, Forward Collision Alert (FCA), Driver Attention Alert (DAA), Intelligent Speed Limit Warning (ISLW), High Beam Assist (HBA), Lane Keep Assist (LKA) and Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS). Top-trims also include Blind-spot Collision Warning (BCW) and Forward Collision Assist (FCA) with cyclist detection.

The Hyundai i20 in the UK is available in three trims – the entry-level ‘SE Connect’, the mid-spec ‘Premium’ and the top-of-the-line Ultimate trim. All the variants come with both the transmission options on the 1.0-litre TGDi 48V Hybrid engine.
