2020 Hyundai i20 bookings cross 25,000 in India

The 3rd generation i20 was launched just a month ago keeping in mind the demand of the festive season and Hyundai has reported a total of 25,000 bookings so far. The brand has seen a positive response from the customers, even though the i20 is priced at a premium in its latest avatar. Hyundai has been known to provide cars which are equipped with high-tech features, attractive looks and a large service network. This has reflected in the latest generation of i20 as well and the South Korean company has loaded the i20 with a lot more than the segment usually offers.
The i20 has been one of the top-selling models in the portfolio of Hyundai. With this latest-gen i20, Hyundai claims that it will have the lowest cost of ownership in its segment. The main reason for i20 attracting so much attention is due to the fact that it has a total of 3 engines and 4 gearbox options. Firstly, the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine which makes about 84 HP, second is the 1.0-litre turbo petrol motor which pumps out 120 HP and final option is a 1.5-litre turbo diesel producing 100 HP of power. The diesel is only available with a manual transmission and the naturally aspirated motor come with a manual and CVT meanwhile the turbocharged petrol motor comes with an option of either a clutchless manual or a DCT transmission.

There are a total of 4 variants on sale – Magna, Sportz, Asta and Asta (O). Customers can also opt for the dual-tone trim which comes at a premium of Rs. 15,000 more than its single tone counterpart. The main highlight inside this premium hatchback which in the current times makes sense is an Oxyboost air purifier with AQI displayed along with features such as emergency stop signal, tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), wireless charging pad, Bose music system and much more.

Hyundai has cracked the Indian market to a great extent and identified the love for sunroofs and hence they have provided the i20 with this wow feature as well. In the premium hatchback segment, the competition is expected to be very fierce with rivals such as Volkswagen Polo, Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Toyota Glanza and Tata Altroz.
