2020 Hyundai Creta bags nearly 20,000 bookings amidst COVID-19 pandemic

Hyundai bagged over 10,000 pre-bookings in just a week since its introduction and the brand also announced the 14,000 pre-booking milestone well before its launch. The 2nd generation Hyundai Creta SUV has been launched only a couple of months ago at the starting price of INR 9.99 lakh in the Indian market now according to a media report, the brand has confirmed that the new Hyundai Creta has received almost 20,000 bookings, so far. 

The brand recently launched the ‘Click to Buy’ contactless online sales platform integrating 500 Hyundai dealerships across the country and includes the new Creta along with the new Hyundai Verna and 8 other cars from the brand’s portfolio. The platform is targeted towards the tech-savvy and new-age customers who would like to configure their car on a digital platform and the cars can be opted to be picked up from Hyundai dealerships at a pre-decided time or delivered at the doorstep in a contactless manner, after the end of lockdown phase.

The report also suggests that the deliveries for the cars will not be affected due to the COVID-19 crisis and the brand which has already dispatched more than 6500 cars to dealerships and is likely to dispatch more than 10,000 unit per month to cater to market demand, but deliveries to its customers are likely to begin only after the lockdown is lifted. 

The 2020 Hyundai Creta is 30mm longer, 10mm wider and offers a 20mm extra wheelbase than the predecessor and measures 4300mm in length, 1790mm in width 1635mm in height with a wheelbase of 2610mm. The car in its 2nd generation comes with an all-new exterior and interior design as well as new engine configurations in both BS6 emission compliant petrol and diesel variants.

The engine options include:-

  • 1.5 MPi naturally-aspirated petrol engine that produces 115 ps of power and 144 Nm of torque matched to a 6-speed manual or an IVT (CVT) gearbox. 
  • 1.5 U2 turbocharged CRDi diesel engine that produces 115 ps of power and 250 Nm of torque mated to a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter type gearbox. 
  • 1.4 Kappa Turbo GDi Petrol engine that produces 140 ps of power and 242 Nm of torque coupled to a 7-speed DCT (Dual Clutch Automatic Transmission)

The new Hyundai Creta also comes with 14 variant options spread across 5 trim levels – [E, EX, S, SX, SX(O)], 3 engine options (two petrol options and one diesel) and 4 gearbox options (one manual and three automatic options).
