2020 Honda Jazz Hybrid caught testing, reveals interiors

The Honda Jazz has been quite a successful hatchback here in India as well as in the Global markets. The Honda Jazz is also marketed as the ‘Fit’ in some international markets. As reported earlier, Honda is planning to give the Jazz a makeover and the car is expected to be launched in the next year. Honda has been testing the car in Europe and a lot of spy shots have been surfacing on the internet recently.  The 2020 Honda Jazz is expected to get a lot of changes in the interior as well as the exterior department. The car, however, is expected to remain a sub-4-metre hatchback in India though the international model may get a bit longer and wider.

Though heavily camouflaged, the spy shots reveal a new headlight design with projector LED headlamps and LED daytime running lights. On the front, a new grille underneath the camouflage cover is expected to be in chrome trim. The front and rear bumpers are also expected to be redesigned and the tail lights are expected to be all LED. Looking at the side profile spy shot, the car sports black alloy wheels and this is expected to be retained on the production model as well. The driver and passenger windows get the signature Honda front quarter glass and the ORVMs are expected to have LED turn indicators.

On the interior, the Honda Jazz is expected to receive a new floating design touchscreen infotainment system, a fully digital cockpit styled instrument console and an automatic climate control air-conditioning different from the current Jazz. A newly redesigned steering wheel with controls is seen in the spy pictures.

In terms of power, the new Jazz is expected to have a BSVI compliant engine right from its launch as new stringent BSVI emission norms will be enforced from 1st of April 2020. Though information on the new engine is scarce, it is rumoured that the Honda Jazz will share its engine with the Honda Insight which has a 1.5-litre electric hybrid motor with a combined power output of 153 PS, at least in the international market. It remains to be seen if Honda bring the hybrid motor in the Jazz to India.

The new Honda Jazz is expected to be unveiled globally around September or October 2019 during the Frankfurt Motor Show or the Tokyo Motor Show and in India at the 2020 Auto Expo. The new Honda Jazz will compete with the Hyundai Elite i20, Volkswagen Polo, Maruti Suzuki Baleno and the upcoming Toyota Glanza and Tata Altroz.
