2020 Hero MotoCorp Splendor iSmart Vs. Splendor+ Vs. Super Splendor – Specification Comparison

The commuter segment is one of the most contested segments in the Indian market where the most popular marque the Hero Splendor has been setting benchmarks, especially in the urban commuter segment. For this comparison we have chosen three motorcycle of the same brand, the Hero MotoCorp’s Splendor marque which is now available in three iterations – Splendor iSmart, Splendor Plus and Super Splendor. Let us see in this how the Splendor range compares against each other in terms of the powertrain, suspension, design & features and the price. 

Engine:

 

The Hero Splendor iSmart is powered by a BS6 emission-compliant 113.2cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled, 4-stroke, OHC engine which produces 9 BHP of power and 9.89 Nm of torque coupled to a 4-speed constant mesh gearbox. The Splendor+ is powered by a BS6 compliant 97.2cc single-cylinder, air-cooled, 4-stroke, OHC engine that makes 7.9 BHP of power and 8.05 Nm of torque matched to a 4-speed constant mesh gearbox. The Super Splendor is powered by a BS6 standards 124.7cc single-cylinder, air-cooled, 4-stroke OHC engine that makes 10.7 BHP of power and 10.6 Nm of torque matched to a 5-speed transmission. 

Chassis & Suspension:

The Splendor iSmart features a tubular diamond frame that rides on telescopic front suspension and a twin 5-step adjustable hydraulic with coil springs on the rear. The Splendor+ features a High-Tensile Double Cradle Frame that rides on telescopic front suspension and 5-step adjustable hydraulic shock absorbers on the rear. The Super Splendor features a tubular diamond frame that rides on Telescopic Hydraulic Shock Absorbers on the front and 5-step Adjustable Hydraulic Shock Absorbers on the rear. 

Brakes, Dimensions & weight:

The Splendor iSmart comes with 130mm internally expanding, mechanical drum brakes on both the front and rear equipped with an integrated braking system (IBS). It is also available with 240mm disc brake on the front. The Splendor iSmart comes with a 1270 mm of wheelbase, 180 mm of ground clearance, 9.5-litre of fuel tank capacity and weighs 117 kg at the kerb. The Splendor+ comes with 130mm internally expanding, mechanical drum brakes on both ends without an option for disc brakes. The Splendor+ features a wheelbase of 1236 mm, 165 mm of ground clearance, 9.8-litre fuel tank capacity and tips the scales at 112 kg. The Super Splendor comes with a 240 mm hydraulic disc on the front with the option of 130 mm drum brake on the front and 130 mm drum brake on the rear. The Super Splendor comes with a 1273 mm of the wheelbase, 180 mm of ground clearance and 12-litre of fuel tank capacity and weighs 123 kg at the kerb. 

Design & Features:

The Splendor iSmart comes with a trapezoidal multifaceted reflector headlamp with halogen bulb, alloy wheels with tubeless tyres, body graphics, an analogue digital instruments display with side stand indicator, split grab rails, three colour options Red, Blue, Grey and the brand’s proprietary i3s technology. The Splendor+ features Programmed FI with i3s technology for +9% fuel savings, alloy wheels with tubeless tyres, long seat, xSens technology, self start etc. The Super Splendor comes with trapezoidal headlamp with a body-coloured headlight shroud, ergonomic seats and handlebar, xSens technology that comes with a bank-angle sensor, throttle position sensor, engine oil temperature sensor, vehicle speed sensor, crank position sensor, oxygen sensor, manifold absolute pressure sensor, intake air temperature sensor, i3S engine start/stop and alloy wheels with tubeless tyres. 

Price:

The Hero Splendor iSmart is priced at INR 65,950 ex-showroom, Delhi for the drum brake version 68,150 ex-showroom, Delhi for the disc brake version. The Hero Splendor+ is priced at INR 60,960 ex-showroom, Delhi for the kickstart, INR 63,260 ex-showroom, Delhi for the self start version and 64,470 ex-showroom, Delhi for the self start with i3S. The Super Splendor is priced INR 69,450 ex-showroom, Delhi for the drum brake version and INR 72,950 ex-showroom, Delhi for the disc brake variant.
