French car manufacturer Citroën has introduced the 2020 new Citroën C4 and ë-C4 – 100% electric hatchback in the international market continuing its electrification offensive and the ë-C4 is the fifth vehicle in Citroën’s electrified vehicle line-up that consists of the C5 Aircross SUV Hybrid, Ami, ë-Jumpy and ë-SpaceTourer. The new Citroën C4 is also available in petrol and diesel powertrains.
The Citroën C4 and ë-C4 electric hatchback are in the 10th generation of the brand’s compact hatchback cars and the first Citroën C4 was sold 92 years ago in the year 1928. The new Citroën C4 and ë-C4 electric measure in at 4,360 mm in length, 1,800 mm in width, 1,525 mm in height with a wheelbase of 2,670 mm, short overhangs and 156mm of ground clearance.
In terms of styling, the new Citroën C4 and ë-C4 electric features a double chevron finished in chrome, macro chevron pattern on the front air intakes, concave depressions on the high bonnet, V-shaped signature lighting with double chevron finished in chrome extending up to the lighting, LED daytime running lights on top and headlights with 3 LED modules on the bottom, LED fog lamps, a multilayered bumper, flared wheel arches, 18-inch alloy wheels, matte black lower skirt, aero ducts on the rear bumper, 3D tail lamps, integrated spoiler in the rear deck.
On the interiors, the new Citroën C4 and ë-C4 electric features a multilayered dashboard with a textured chevron graphic grain fascia, uncluttered and minimalist design approach, satin chrome or high-gloss black trim inside the cabin, slush-moulded dashboard top, wrapped front door panel strips, soft armrest trim, squircle steering wheel with glossy black automatic transmission paddles, frameless HD digital instrument panel, coloured head-up display, 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, dual-zone climate control, gear selector finished in guilloched metal, electric parking brake etc.
The new Citroën C4 and ë-C4 electric comes powered by 5 options in the Euro 6d spec petrol engine and 2 Euro 6d compliant diesel motors all matched to 6-speed manual transmission options. The ë-C4 electric is powered by a 100% electric engine that can produce 136 Hp of power and 260 Nm of torque coupled to a 400 V 50 kWh Lithium-Ion battery pack good for a claimed range of 350 km on a single charge. The batteries can be recharged to up to 80% state of charge in 30 minutes using a 100 kW fast-charge charger.
The 2020 Citroën C4 and ë-C4 electric are offered in 31 exterior paint options along with 6 interior ambient customisations options.
In the Indian market, Citroën has earlier announced that the brand will be postponing the launch date of its flagship SUV, the Citroën C5 Aircross, in India to the first quarter of 2021, in view of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
