Royal Enfield launched the BS6 Himalayan at the start of this Calendar Year well before the intended BS6 deadline at the starting price of INR 1.87 lakhs ex-showroom, Delhi and as offered with new dual-tone colour variants – Gravel Grey, Lake Blue and Rock Red. But now the brand has updated the price sheet and the motorcycle gets its first price hike of approximately INR 2,750 across the range.

The updated BS6 Royal Enfield Himalayan retains its exterior features from the BS4 predecessor but gets new features such as a switchable ABS, Hazard switch and a new engine that conforms to the stringent BS6 standards. The Himalayan was launched in 2016 and has been a popular motorcycle among adventure tourers due to its off-road capabilities comfortable seating, ergonomic handlebar positioning and a wide variety of options to mount luggage.
The BS6 model which features the new switchable ABS system allows the rider to disengage the Anti-Lock Braking system from the rear wheel while riding off-roads allowing further control over the motorcycle allowing the rider to initiate a powerslide. The hazard switch also enables the rider to flag other riders in case of emergency. The BS6 model also comes with an updated braking mechanism that improves the braking distance. In addition to this, the BS6 Himalayan also features an improved side stand that makes parking easier on any terrain.
Powering the Royal Enfield Himalayan is the BS6 compliant 411cc single-cylinder, air-cooled, 4-stroke SOHC fuel-injected motor that produces 24.3 Bhp of power and 32 Nm of torque matched to a 5-speed gearbox with a wet multi-plate clutch. The Himalayan comes with a half-duplex split cradle frame that rides on 41mm conventional telescopic hydraulic front fork with 200mm of travel and a link-type monoshock with 180mm of wheel travel. The motorcycle features a 21-inch front and 17-inch rear spoked rims shod in 90/90 front and 120/90 rear, dual sport tyres. Braking duties are handled by 300mm single disc with the dual-piston calliper on the front and a 240mm single disc with a single-piston calliper on the rear.
