Nissan is gearing up to launch the new Kicks SUV in its BS6 avatar in the Indian market and the brand has officially revealed that the BS6 updated Nissan Kicks will be powered by a 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol motor along with an X-Tronic CVT gearbox. But the brand has been tight-lipped about the launch timeline and other details pertaining to trim variants and features. However, according to a media report, the trim variant and the list of features on the 2020 BS6 Nissan Kicks has been revealed.
As per leaked documents, the BS6 Nissan Kicks is expected to be launched in four variant trims – XL, XV, XV Premium and XV Premium (O). With XL positioned as the entry-level trim, it is likely to feature halogen headlamps with LED daytime running lights, shark-fin antenna, electrically adjustable ORVMs, a 2DIN audiotainment system with FM, USB, AUX, Bluetooth connectivity and 50 Nissan Connect features, power steering with tilt function, front-seat armrest, illuminated and cooled glove box, rear AC vents, remote key, reading lamps and safety features such as rear defogger, rear parking sensors, speed sensing auto door lock and impact sensing auto door unlock, one-touch lane change indicator, central door locking, child safety locks, ABS+EBD+BA and driver and passenger airbags.
XV is likely to feature remote engine start, push-button start/stop, idle stop-start, steering mounted controls, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment with smartphone connectivity features and voice recognition, a rearview camera with display guidelines, rear-seat armrest with cupholders, front fog lamps, 17-inch alloy wheels, functional roof rails, rear wipers and safety features such as traction control, electronic stability control, vehicle stability management etc.
XV Premium trim is said to feature LED projector headlamps, smart card keyless entry, cruise control, hill-start assist control, leather-wrapped steering wheel, leather-wrapped gear knob with chrome accents and front tweeters.
The top-end trim variant, the XV Premium (O) is likely to feature a dual-tone interior with carbon fibre finish, leather seats, seat side airbags, auto headlamps, fog lamps with cornering function, rain-sensing wipers, dual-tone roof, rear foglamp, follow-me-home headlamp function and AVM with front, side and rear simultaneous display.
In the engine department, the BS6 Nissan Kicks will be launched with a new 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol engine that is said to produce 156 PS of power and 254 Nm of torque matched to an 8-speed X-Tronic CVT (continuously variable transmission) with manual mode. Additionally, the Nissan Kicks is also likely to be offered with a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that is likely to make 106 PS of power and 142 Nm of torque.
The new BS6 compliant 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine claims to improve its efficiency by borrowing a unique cylinder coating technology from the Nissan GT-R. The Nissan GT-R comes with a plasma-sprayed bore which enhances cooling, reduces friction and weight, while maximizing power output and increasing fuel-efficiency.
The media report also suggest a launch timeline for the BS6 Nissan Kicks and according to the leaked images the brand is likely to open online bookings and virtual showroom tours from 15th May 2020.
