2020 BS6 Kawasaki Versys 1000 launched in India at INR 10.99 lakh

Kawasaki has launched the new 2020 Versys 1000 adventure tourer at the price of INR 10.99 lakh ex-showroom, India offered in two colour options – Candy Lime Green with Metallic Spark Black & Pearl Dust White with Metallic Spark Black. As compared to the earlier model the new BS6 model is nearly INR 30,000 more expensive but comes with new styling and equipment that is in-line with the latest generation Ninja family. 

The 2020 Kawasaki Versys 1000 is powered by a BS6 emissions-compliant 1043cc liquid-cooled in-line four-cylinder 4-stroke, 4-valve per cylinder DOHC fuel-injected engine derived from the Ninja 1000 but tuned to deliver strong low-mid range torque and the engine produces 120 PS of power and 102 Nm of torque matched to a 6-speed return type transmission with a wet multi-plate assist & slipper clutch.

The Kawasaki Versys 1000 is at the apex of the brand’s adventure touring segment and features an upright front fascia with twin LED headlamps, an adjustable touring style windscreen, a small beak, angular side cowling, a large 21-litre fuel tank, upright riding position, step-up seats, a large pillion grab rail integrated tail box mount, LED tail lamps and new cockpit styled instrumentation with an analogue tachometer and a digital LCD screen. 

In terms of mechanical parts, the Kawasaki Versys 1000 features an aluminium twin-tube chassis that rides on 43 mm upside-down front forks with rebound damping and spring preload adjustability that provides 150 mm of wheel travel. The rear suspension features a horizontal back-link, gas-charged monoshock with rebound damping and remote spring preload adjustability with 152 mm of wheel travel. 

Braking duties are performed by dual semi-floating 310mm petal disc brakes with horizontally-opposed radially mounted 4-piston monobloc callipers on the front and a single 250mm petal disc with a single-piston hydraulically operated calliper on the rear armed with KIBS (Kawasaki Intelligent anti-lock Brake System). The Versys 1000 comes with 17-inch allow wheels on both the front and rear shod in 120/70 front and 180/55 rear tyres. 

The Kawasaki Versys 1000 is equipped with KCMF (Kawasaki Cornering Management Function), KTRC (Kawasaki TRaction Control), Electronic Throttle Valves and Electronic Cruise Control. The bike also comes with 40W output 12V DC charging socket located in the cockpit. 

Bookings on the 2020 Kawasaki Versys 1000 have already opened and the motorcycle is expected to be delivered in the coming weeks as soon as the COVID-19 lockdown guidelines are relaxed in the country.
