Its been more than a decade since TVS Motor Company launched the RTR Series. The Race Throttle Response is the brand’s race-derived technology the basic concept of which can still be seen on the 2020 BS6 compliant motorcycles but has continuously evolved over the years. The RTR Series currently has four BS6 emissions-compliant models – Apache RTR 160 Vs. Apache RTR 180 Vs. Apache RTR 160 4V Vs. Apache RTR 200 4V. Engine:
The TVS Apache RTR 160 is powered by a BS6 compliant 159.7cc single-cylinder air-cooled 4-stroke 2-Valve engine that produces 15.53 PS of power and 13.9 Nm of torque matched to a 5-speed gearbox. The RTR 160 offers a 0.0822 kW/kg power to weight ratio. The Apache RTR 180 is powered by a 177.4cc single-cylinder air-/oil-cooled 4-stroke 2-valve engine that produces 16.79 PS of power and 15.5 Nm of torque matched to a 5-speed gearbox. The RTR 180 offers a power to weight ratio of 0.0876 kW/kg. The Apache RTR 160 4V is powered by a 159.7cc single-cylinder air/oil-cooled 4-stroke 4-valve engine that produces 16.02 PS of power and 14.12 Nm of torque matched to a 5-speed gearbox. The RTR 160 4V comes with a power to weight ratio of 0.08 kW/kg. The RTR series flagship, the RTR 200 4V is powered by a 197.75cc single-cylinder, oil-cooled engine 4-stroke, 4-valve engine that makes 20.5 PS of power and 16.8 Nm of torque matched to a 5-speed gearbox.
Chassis, Suspension & Brakes:
The RTR 160 comes with a Double Cradle Synchro STIFF chassis that rides on telescopic front forks with 105mm of travel, spring assisted Twin Monotube Inverted Gas-filled shox (MIG) on the rear and 270mm dia Petal Disc on the front with 130mm dia Drum or 200mm dia Petal Disc option on the rear equipped with a Single Channel Super-Moto ABS. The RTR 180 also features the same mechanical equipment from the RTR 160 but does not get the Drum brake option. The RTR 160 4V features a Double Cradle Split Synchro Stiff Frame the braking components are similar to the RTR 160 and the RTR 180. The motorcycle rides on the telescopic front suspension and monoshock rear suspension. The RTR 200 4V also features a Double Cradle Split Synchro Stiff Frame with a telescopic front fork suspension and monoshock rear suspension. The RTR 200 4V comes with 270 mm petal disc on the front and 240 mm petal disc on the rear equipped with Dual-Channel ABS with RLP Control.
Design & Features:
The Apache RTR 160 features a contemporary headlamp design with a headlamp shroud and a small flyscreen, extended tank shrouds, clip-on handlebars, scooped seats, angular belly cowl to improve the wind flowing around the motorcycle and a sleek tail end. The design highlights are also similar to the RTR 160 but come with gold-finished front forks and gold-finished rear suspension piggyback for a premium look. The Apache RTR 160 4V employs the brand’s latest design language with a sharp front end and sharp tank and tail features. The RTR 160 4V also features LED headlamps and taillamps and claw-like LED DRLs. The Apache RTR 200 4V features a sharp mandible-like headlight shroud, LED headlamps with claw styled daytime running lamps and angular design features on the tank and rear cowling. The RTR 200 4V also features TVS SmartXonnect technology that comes with smartphone-connected features that provide a range of data such as race telemetry, lean angle data, navigation features, call notifications, crash alert and low fuel alert.

The BS6 Apache RTR 160 Drum is priced at INR 100,550 ex-showroom, Delhi and the BS6 Apache RTR 160 Disc is priced at INR 103,550 ex-showroom, Delhi. The BS6 Apache RTR 180 is priced at INR 106,500 ex-showroom, Delhi. The Apache RTR 160 4V is priced at INR 108,550 for the Disc variant and INR 105,500 for the drum variant. The Apache RTR 200 4V is priced at INR 125,000 ex-showroom, Delhi for the Single Channel ABS model and INR 130,050 ex-showroom, Delhi for the Dual-Channel ABS model.
