2020 Aprilia SXR 160 bookings open for INR 5,000, available in 4 colours

Piaggio has commenced pre-bookings on the much-anticipated Aprilia SXR 160 maxi-scooter in the Indian market. The Aprilia SXR 160 can now be booked by putting down an amount of INR 5,000 at Piaggio dealerships across India or through the brand’s online sales channel in a safer contactless fashion. The Aprilia SXR 160 is offered in four colour options – Glossy White, Matte Black, Matte Blue and Glossy Red. All the colour options feature a new body graphic on the side fairing with Aprilia signature design and the Italian tricolour. 

The premium maxi-scooter incorporates Aprilia’s latest global design language and features an imposing front fascia with Aprilia hallmark split LED headlamp units, LED daytime running lights, LED indicators, LED taillamps, a fully-digital instruments cluster with mobile connectivity features, longer, bigger and comfortable seating, an aerodynamic front fairing with apron mounted flyscreen that provides additional protection to the rider and the scooter is a combination of contemporary Italian design, features and performance. 

The Aprilia SXR 160 is powered by a BS6 emission-compliant 160.03cc single-cylinder air-fan-cooled 3-valve SOHC engine with fuel injection technology and Aprilia clean emission engine technology, that produces 11 PS of power and 11.6 Nm of torque matched to a CVT automatic transmission. The Aprilia SXR 160 features 30mm diameter telescopic front fork suspension, an adjustable monoshock on the rear, 220 mm ventilated front disc brake and 140mm rear drum brake equipped with Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS). 

The Maxi-Scooter measures 1960mm in length, 803mm in width and 1353mm in height and comes with a 7-litre capacity fuel tank. The Maxi-scooter also features large 12-inch alloy wheels on the front and rear shod in 120/70 tubeless tyres. Though the Aprilia SXR 160 is designed in Italy, the brand has announced that the maxi-scooter will be produced at the Piaggio Group’s state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Baramati, Maharashtra, to keep the prices in check. 

The Aprilia SXR 160 is expected to hit showrooms in January 2021 and is expected to be priced at INR 1.25 lakh mark. The Aprilia SXR 160 will set new benchmarks in the premium two-wheeler segment in the Indian market.
