With sales numbers that never looked really great, Toyota has refreshed the Yaris sedan in the Indian market. The Toyota Yaris is a rival to the likes of Hyundai Verna, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Volkswagen Vento, Skoda Rapid and Honda City. The Yaris is the only sedan in the segment which does not get a diesel engine option. Toyota now offers a new J Optional variant for the Yaris and it has been priced at INR 8.65 lakh for the manual gearbox and INR 9.35 lakh for the CVT automatic gearbox. The Yaris V Optional variant now comes with new feature additions and is priced at INR 11.97 lakh for the manual gearbox and INR 13.17 lakh for the CVT automatic (all prices are ex-showroom, pan India). Toyota becomes the first brand in this segment to offer a CVT automatic in under INR 10 lakh price range.
The 2019 Toyota Yaris will be sold in red, brown, white, pearl white, silver & grey paint options. New features on the top trim of the Yaris includes dual tone paint option, gloss black finish on the ORVM and front grille, leatherette seat covers, centre console storage box, leather wrapped steering wheel, leather wrapped gear knob and diamond cut alloy wheels. Toyota claims that this new updated Yaris is launched to attract younger buyers.
The Toyota Yaris comes only with a petrol engine option which is a 1.5L, naturally-aspirated, 4-cylinder motor producing 107 PS of power @ 6000 RPM and 140 Nm of torque @ 4200 RPM matched to either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed CVT automatic gearbox. Toyota claims that the Yaris can deliver 17.1 kmpl mileage with a manual gearbox and 17.8 kmpl with the CVT automatic.
Safety features on the Toyota Yaris include 7-airbags, hill start assist, stability control, ABS, EBD, brake assist, TPMS, front and rear parking sensors, front and rear fog lamps, follow-me home headlamps, driver & passenger seat belt reminder and high speed alert.
