2019 Renault Triber MPV teased before global unveil

Renault India has teased the upcoming Triber ahead of its global reveal which is scheduled on 19th June 2019. The MPV is much awaited in the Indian market and Renault, a couple of months back had only teased us with a silhouette of the car showing a sketch image with a large front bumper and a raised bonnet along with a large grill.

But now the brand has revealed more and the image shows the front styling of the car which is styled similar to the international-spec Captur SUV. The teaser image shows that the Triber will get a V-shaped grille with a large Renault badge and the grille integrates with the headlamps. The bumpers are large and house a dedicated section for the daytime running light accented in chrome, the bonnet gets a clamshell design and the car gets a wide stance due to the sculpted muscular bonnet. The image also shows that the car gets roof rails and a roof-mounted antenna.

On the interior, the Triber is expected to share the equipment with other Renault models such as the Captur and the Duster and is likely to feature a large touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, climate control air-conditioning with third-row ac vents, an advanced multi-information display that features driving-style coaching and driver economy rating, etc.

The Triber MPV was earlier known by its codename – HBC is based on the Kwid’s CMF-A platform and will be placed above the Kwid. The MPV is expected to come with a Renault Kwid derived BR10, 1-litre, 3-cylinder petrol motor tuned to deliver more power than the Kwid and is expected to be rated around the 75 PS mark. It will be coupled to the Kwid’s 5-speed manual transmission. A turbocharged version of the 1-litre engine and an AMT (automated manual transmission) gearbox for the seven-seater compact MPV is also expected in the near future.

In terms of safety, the Renault Triber MPV is likely to feature dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, over-speed alert, rear parking sensors, driver and co-driver seatbelt reminder as a standard feature to conform with the new industry standard AN-145 safety norms. We also expect the Renault Triber to be offered with ESP as the Datsun Go+ MPV also gets this feature.

The Triber is expected to be priced starting from INR 5.3 lakh ex-showroom to around INR 8 lakh ex-showroom.
