At the 2018 Indian Auto Expo, Hyundai launched the facelift version of their popular premium hatchback, the Elite i20. However, the crossover based on this, the i20 Active showed no signs of change back then. Now, the South Korean manufacturer has revealed the 2018 i20 Active facelift, which is just a mid-life makeover.
Now, although the 2018 Elite i20 has received a change to the front end design, the i20 Active remains unchanged at the front. There is absolutely no major change to be seen. On the side profile, you will notice that the body mouldings have been tweaked a little and you now have new alloy wheel design. The only major change comes at the rear end with new tail lamps, new reprofiled tail gate, new rear bumper and the number plate mounting now housed in the tail gate.
Even on the inside, the international model barely shows any signs of change. The car continues with the same dashboard layout and equipment. We can expect an update infotainment system though and different seat upholstery.
The i20 Active in India is sold with a 1.4L diesel engine producing 90 HP of power and a 1.2L petrol block producing 83 HP of power. Both engines come matched to a manual gearbox, 5-speed for petrol and 6-speed for diesel.
There is no update on when the facelift version of the i20 Active is coming to India. But with the Elite i20 doing good on the sales front, we expect the crossover version to come out soon.
