After having revealed at the Auto Expo 2018 that the brand only cars about the Activa, and that the entry-level CBR will not get any major changes, Honda has finally launched the refreshed 2018 CBR250R in our market. And looking at the colours & styling, we don’t think it is going to please many.
The 2018 CBR250 has been priced at INR 1.63 lakh for the standard model and INR 1.93 lakh for the ABS equipped mode. Prices are ex-showroom Delhi).
Powering the 2108 version of the Honda CBR250R is the same 249.6cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder, 4-stroke petrol motor producing 26.5 PS of power @ 8500 RPM and 22.9 Nm of torque @ 7000 RPM matched to a 6-speed gearbox. This engine is now BSIV compliant, but there is still no slipper clutch on offer, and neither are there any changes to the power and torque outputs. The bike remains the same mechanically.
While Honda claims a top speed of 135 kmph, the bike can do well over 160 kmph as indicated on the speedo console.
The 2018 CBR250R has one new highlight feature though. The motorcycle now comes with full LED headlamps which really look good. But that’s about it. The brand has still not even offered an LED tail lamp for the CBR250R while commuter motorcycles have now started getting this. Apart from the headlamp, you get new body decals and paint options. If you ask us, the livery of the new CBR250R is really far from pleasing to the eye. The design looks busy, and not very classy.
So if you wished that Honda brought the CBR250RR to our market, dream on!
