2018 Honda Africa Twin makes a debut at Indian Auto Expo

Honda’s latest iteration of the Africa Twin adventure tourer was showcased at the 2018 Indian Auto Expo. While the bike is yet to see an official launch, we expect it to happen soon. It was in 1986 when the NXR650 made a debut at the Dakar Rally and won the championship multiple times. Then began the story of the Africa Twin with the XRV650, XRV750 & eventually becoming the current version, the CRF1000L Africa Twin.

Honda claims that the Africa Twin is true to its roots of being a motorcycle capable of competing in the Dakar rally. And, it is a comfortable & practical commuter as well along with all the off-road abilities.

The new 2018 edition of the Africa Twin brings features such as ride-by-wire, 3 new riding modes to tune the engine and change traction settings, new lighter lithium-ion batter which is 2.3kg lighter, new instrument console, new stainless steep spokes, redesigned footrest hangers for better off-road functionality and an emergency stop signal for the rear indicators.

The engine of the CRF1000L Africa Twin remains unchanged. The bike continues with a 998cc, liquid-cooled, 4-stroke motor producing 87 BHP @ 7500 RPM and 92 Nm of torque @ 6000 RPM matched to a 6-speed transmission and max speed of 190 kmph.
