2015 Mercedes-Benz CLS facelift revealed

In modern days, where manufacturers are using headlamp features as a USP, Mercedes-Benz has revealed the 2015 CLS Class featuring multibeam LED headlamps.

These multibeam headlamps allow the driver to use high beam throughout the journey without dazzling the oncoming traffic. It also features a camera-based active light function, with the camera mounted on the windscreen to scan the traffic ahead, measured 100 times a second and much more.

The CLS will also get a 9G-Tronic 9-speed automatic gearbox, which will replace the previous 7-speed unit. There are five new Euro 6 engine options, starting with a new four-cylinder diesel CLS 220 pumping out 170 BHP & 400 Nm of torque. The other two engines – the CLS 250 with 204 BHP & 500 Nm & CLS 350 with 250 BHP & 620 Nm – are currently offered in India in the pre-facelift version and will remain unchanged even on the facelift version. Petrol engines include the CLS 400 with a turbocharged 3.5L engine and the CLS 500 flagship with a V8. The CLS 63 AMG with a 5.5L V8 will also be available.

Exterior changes include a new grille, regular LED headlamps as standard (apart from the multibeam), a new alloy wheel design, redesigned bumpers & tail lamps. On the inside, it gets a new 3-spoke steering wheel, an 8″ display screen and a variety of colours and trim finishes.

The CLS is expected to debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed this year in June. Indian debut is expected sometime next year.
