200 Tata Motors Hexa SUVs ordered by Bangladesh Army

Indian automobile manufacturer Tata Motors has bagged an order of over 200 Tata Hexa SUVs to be supplied to the Bangladesh Army. The four-wheel drive Hexa SUV will be delivered soon. The Bangladesh Army had rigorously tested the four-wheel drive Tata Hexa and the SUV has met all the specifications and requirements of the Army, which had also tested other SUVs from different competitive brands. Key reasons for the Army to choose over other cars has been claimed to be the ease of availability of parts and service centres in Bangladesh as well as its performance and comfort features. 

Tata Motors has been doing business in the country since 2012 and is currently among the top two best-selling passenger vehicle brands in Bangladesh. Tata Motors sells the Tata Indica, Tata Tiago and the Tata Nexon in the country. The Hexa SUV is being made available exclusively for the Bangladesh Army and is currently not available for purchase by private customers.

The Tata Hexa in India has the 4×4 option only in the XT model and is powered by a 2179 cc, 4-cylinder, BSIV diesel engine that produces 156 PS of power and 400 Nm of torque paired to a 6-speed manual transmission. The base XE variant comes in a slightly lower state of tune and produces 150 PS power and 320 Nm of torque with a 5-speed manual transmission.

The exterior dimensions of the SUV is measured at 4788mm in length, 1900mm in width x 1785mm in height with a wheelbase of 2850mm. The suspension duties are performed by double wishbone type with coil springs on the front and a coil spring type 5 link rigid axle suspension on the rear.

In terms of safety features, the XT 4X4 variant gets 6 Airbags, Electronic Stability Program(ESP) with Roll-over mitigation, traction control system and hill descent control, Hill Hold Control( HHC), reverse parking sensor with camera, ABS with EBD, Engine Drag-Torque Control, Corner Stability Control, Hydraulic Brake Assist, Perimetric Alarm, Driver and co-Driver seat belt reminder, Automatic Headlamps, Rain-Sensing Wipers, etc.

In India the Tata Hexa is priced starting from INR 13.26 lakh ex-showroom, Delhi and the XT 4×4 variant is priced at INR 18.43 lakh ex-showroom, Delhi with the new XT 4×4 priced at INR 18.63 lakh ex-showroom, Delhi.
