2 new Mahindra electric SUVs testing in India

Written by AnantaSaranNayak

Mahindra & Mahindra is gearing up for a major product offensive in the coming years. This is evidenced by the concept vehicles showcased last year. The company introduced the XUV400 electric SUV in early 2023. And its future lineup of zero-emission vehicles will fall under the XUV.e and BE sub-brands. These electric vehicles will use the dedicated skateboard platform known as INGLO, which stands for IN (India) and GLO (Global).

Mahindra XUV .e8

One of the upcoming models is the Mahindra XUV.e8. This will hit the roads by the end of next year. Although there hasn’t been an official confirmation. But camouflaged test mules of the XUV700 are already there, thus hinting at an electric powertrain. The concept version of the XUV.e8 measures 4,740 mm in length, 1,900 mm in width, and 1,760 mm in height.

Thus making it larger than the regular ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) XUV700. However, the production model may feature an updated design compared to the futuristic styling of the concept. It might come with a claimed driving range of over 500 km and will compete against the upcoming Tata Curvv EV, Harrier EV, Maruti Suzuki eVX, Toyota’s mid size EV, and other similar models.

Mahindra BE.05

Another model in the pipeline is the Mahindra BE.05. This has been spotted in testing recently. The test mules closely resemble the design of the concept. Thus incorporating some conventional elements both inside and outside the vehicle. The BE.05 concept comes with a tag of a Sports Electric Vehicle. It measures 4,370 mm in length, 1,900 mm in width, 1,635 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,775 mm. It will utilise the INGLO platform and will most likely hit the roads in the middle of this decade. The expected driving range for the BE.05 is over 600 km on a single charge.

Mahindra And Its Future Ahead

Overall, Mahindra & Mahindra’s ambitious product plans include the launch of the XUV.e8 and BE.05 electric vehicles. These models will showcase the company’s commitment to electric mobility. And are set to compete in different segments with their distinctive features and driving ranges.
