First launched in May 2005, the Maruti Suzuki Swift was an instant hit in the Indian market. It still remains a very popular hatchback in its class, and has sales numbers way ahead of its competition. Since the first day that it was launched, Maruti Suzuki has now achieved a new milestone of 2 million sales of the Swift.
The Swift has always been a good looking, and fun to drive car. In its latest avatar, it also comes with all the bells and whistles one might expect from a car, making it a mass marker favourite. What we currently have on sale is the 3rd generation of the Swift, and it is lighter, safer, more feature loaded and spacious than ever.
The all-new Swift was also one of the fastest cars in the industry to cross 1 lakh bookings, which happened in less than 10 weeks. Maruti Suzuki also had to increase the production of the Swift by 45% during Aprol – October 2018-19 to 1.39 lakh units due to increasing demand, and to reduce waiting period.
The Swift is now sold in petrol and diesel engine options, both of which also get the AMT / AGS automatic technology. Maruti Suzuki reveals that nearly 20% of their customers for the Swift opt for the AMT gearbox.
