MG seems to be doing the right thing, at the right time. At least when it comes to marketing their upcoming Hector SUV. MG short for Morris Garages was found in the UK in 1924. Back in the day, the British brand was world famous for its roadsters, sports cars and cabriolet series vehicles. In 1930 the MG car club was formed in Abingdon in the UK. The MG brand cars were favourites among the Royal Family, many celebrities and even the British Prime Minister. MG has brought forward the heritage of the MG brand to India, which has lasted for over 95 years.
The first modern day production model of the MG Hector SUV has rolled out of the state-of-the-art facility at Halol, Gujrat. The MG Hector is India’s first smart connected SUV. The Halol plant in Gujrat has a production capacity of 80,000 units per annum and MG is set to increase the capacity in the future. The plant operates with world-class manufacturing capabilities, with advanced robotic spot welding, robotic brazing, robotic roller hemming to achieve superior consistency levels. The plant has a new body shop, new press shop, and an assembly line. The plant also has a new parts distribution centre and a testing track and the vehicles go under stringent quality test. MG India has invested INR 2,200 crores in the Gujrat manufacturing plant and with extensive testing of the Hector SUV the car has gone into final production with specific changes for India.
The Hector SUV has been tested for over one million kilometres in various climate and road conditions in India before going into final production.
The feature-rich MG Hector comes equipped with a 10.4-inch vertically-oriented touchscreen infotainment with next-gen iSmart technology which is connected to the internet and can receive over-the-air updates. MG Motor India will begin shipping the Hector SUV within the next few weeks. MG India has a network of 65 showrooms across 50 cities.
The MG Hector SUV will make its global debut on 15th May 2019 and MG India will begin pre-orders soon.
