Honda has officially revealed the 10th generation Civic sedan for our market. Also, the Japanese manufacturer has announced that this new Civic will be launched in the fiscal year 2018-19. When launched, the Civic will be a rival to the likes of Skoda Octavia, Toyota Corolla Altis, etc.
The old Civic was discontinued from the Indian market because sales in this segment were on a constant decline, and also, since the old Civic did not have a diesel motor on offer. With the growing popularity of diesel engines back then, only cars with a diesel motor in the D1 segment could carry on.
Honda has officially confirmed that the new 10th generation Civic sedan will be sold in India in both petrol and diesel engine options. The Civic is Honda’s most popular nameplate globally and has sold over 24 million units worldwide. Currently, Honda has retails the Civic over 170 markets worldwide.
The Civic when launched will be the most sporty looking sedan in the segment. Although dominated by executive buyers, the Civic will be a breath of fresh air with premium & youthful styling. On the inside, the car on display had all-black interiors with leather upholstery, touchscreen infotainment system, sunroof & all that the segment demands. Outside, the Civic sports LED headlamps, LED tail lamps, coupe-like roofline, dual-tone alloy wheels, chrome inserts, etc.
Powering the new Honda Civic, we’re expecting a 1.8L, i-VTEC petrol motor producing 135 BHP of power and 170 Nm of torque and a diesel motor which will be a 1.6L, i-DTEC block producing 118 BHP of power and 300 Nm of torque. Expect manual and automatic gearbox options on offer for both engines.
So, how much would you pay to buy a Honda Civic? The Honda City itself has the top diesel variant priced close to INR 17 lakh on-road. How much more money would the Civic ask for?
