1,08,306 Faulty Mahindra XUV700 SUVs recalled, wiring loom problem

Mahindra has recalled 1.08 lakh units of the popular XUV700 SUV. According to the Indian carmaker, the owners of the affected cars will be contacted by the company.

The affected models were manufactured between 8 June 2021 and 28 June 2023. The total affected units start at 1,08,306.

Mahindra says the affected models will be inspected for a “potential risk of abrasion cut of wiring loom”.

Mahindra will personally contact all the owners of the affected cars. All these vehicles will be inspected and if needed, rectified free of cost.

XUV700 is a popular model of Mahindra

In the first 12 months since the launch back in 2021, the company delivered 50,000 units of the SUV. The next 50,000 units were delivered in just 8 months. Now, Mahindra is planning to deliver the next 50,000 units in even less time.

Despite this achievement, the SUV has been commanding long waiting periods thanks to its impressive demand. The XUV700 is known for its tech-laden cabin and refined powertrains.

Mahindra XUV700 : More Details

The XUV700 comes with a slew of modern tech features. These includes an ADAS suite, a 360-degree camera, dual-zone climate control, LED lighting, and six-way adjustable front seats with memory and welcome functions. The SUV also gets twin 10.25-inch displays for the infotainment system and instrument cluster. The panoramic sunroof, further adds to the touch. Customers also get the convenience of an electronic parking brake. Then we also have cruise control, six airbags, drive modes, and a 12-speaker setup.

Powertrain of the Mahindra XUV700

Mahindra offers two engines on the SUV. These include a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine good for 200 HP and 380 Nm of torque. The 2.2-litre turbo-diesel meanwhile is offered in two states of tune. These are 155 HP / 360 Nm of torque, and 185 HP / 420 Nm (450Nm in AT) of torque.

Transmission options include a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic on both engines. An all-wheel drive option is also offered on the diesel powertrain.
