1 lakh production milestone for Isuzu in India, took 8 years

Isuzu Motors India declared that it has achieved the significant milestone of delivering one million vehicles from its production facility. This production facility is located in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh and the D-Max V-Cross pickup truck, which competes with the Toyota Hilux, was the historic unit to achieve this milestone.

In April 2016, the Japanese brand’s Indian subsidiary began operations at the Sri City site. A press shop and an engine assembly facility were among the new facilities added by Phase 2 operations in 2020. More than 14 lakh pressed parts have been manufactured by the plant since then. Over the past two years, Isuzu’s “Make in India” initiative has increased its capacity to produce engines and vehicles.

The business has hit important production and export milestones over the years. The company claims that 22% of its production line personnel comprises women workers. And they consider it as a noteworthy example of their dedication to promoting diversity and inclusion. Further, Diploma engineers make up 100% of their production workforce, as claimed by the company.

According to figures from the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers, Isuzu became the leading exporter of commercial vehicles in India between April and September (H1 FY2025), shipping 9,745 units and gaining a 27 per cent market share.

The brand claims that the Indian market has immense potential. It carries strategic importance to Isuzu, and it remains committed to delivering value-driven and innovative mobility solutions.

Isuzu’s lineup also includes the mu-X SUV and the Hi-Lander pickup truck in addition to the V-Cross. To comply with Real Driving Emissions (RDE) regulations, all three models received updates in April. These updates included improvements such as low-friction tyres, an idle start-stop system, and a transmission fluid warmer for automatic models.
