The Hyundai Verna has been crash-tested by the Latin NCAP (New Car Assessment Programme) and received a shocking 0-Stars. The zero-star crash test rating is for the Hyundai Verna manufactured in the Indian and Mexican markets. However, the origin of the crash-tested model is still unknown.
Hyundai Verna Standard Safety Equipment
The Hyundai Verna crash-tested by the Latin NCAP came with safety features such as a seat belt pre-tensioners for both driver and passenger, driver side seat belt reminder, driver’s side airbag and ISOFIX child seat mounts in the rear seats. The sedan does not appear to have ESC (Electronic Stability Control) as standard. The low rating is also thanks to the non-recommendation of the Child Restraint System and passenger-side airbag.
Adult Occupant Protection
In the Adult Occupant Protection department, the Hyundai Verna offers good protection to the driver and passenger in the frontal-offset impact test. The chest protection in the same department was adequate for the driver but poor for the passenger. However, the footwell and bodyshell of the vehicle were both rated stable and capable of withstanding further loadings. The car also scored just 1.57 points out of 3 for whiplash protection. Overall the car scored 9.23 points in the adult occupant protection department leading to 3.69 per cent.
Child Occupant Protection
In the Child Occupant Protection department, Verna scored 6.21 points or 12.68 per cent. The car features ISOFIX anchorages for the rear outward seats as standard. However, Hyundai has not recommended any CRS leading to zero points in the dynamic tests. However, it is important to note that good protection to a 3-year-old child dummy in rearward-facing child seats. Some CRS also failed the installation test.
Hyundai Verna Standard Safety Features in India
The Hyundai Verna in the Indian market comes with dual front airbags, seatbelt reminder and pre-tensioners for both driver and passenger, ABS with EBD, reverse parking sensors, impact sensing auto door unlock and ISOFIX anchorages on rear seats as standard. Top-spec variants also get all-four disc brakes, vehicle stability management (VSM), front parking sensors and tyre pressure monitoring system.
