Yamaha Aerox 155 scooter on display at dealership, launch uncertain

Written by Parichay Malvankar

Yamaha doesn’t have a maxi scooter on sale in India, but in 2018 things could possible change. While this particular scooter was spotted a few months back, it is now also being displayed at dealerships in India. The scooter in discussion here is the Aerox 155 from Yamaha. However, Yamaha has not revealed any launch plans for the Aerox 155 in India so far. Also, the market sentiment for such maxi scooters as of now is unknown. Suzuki will be the first to revive the segment with the Burgman Street in a few weeks from now.

The Aerox 155 can be put up on display to gauge customer interest. It is sold in the South East Asian markets, and is quite a popular scooter. And yes, it does look good with the aggressive styling.

The Yamaha Aerox 155 features LED headlamps, LED tail lamps, single-channel ABS, digital instrument console, alloy wheels, telescopic front fork, long contoured seats, mobile charger, stop / start system, etc. This is unlike any other Yamaha scooter on sale in India. However, if launched, the Aerox 155 could ask close to or even above INR 1 lakh on-road. So that would be a challenge.

The Aerox 155 is powered by the same engine we’ve seen on the YZF-R15 V3.0. However, this is matched to a CVT gearbox and produces 14.8 BHP of power and 13.8 Nm of torque. If launched, the Aerox 155 will become the most powerful scooter in India. Rivals include the Aprilia SR 150 & Piaggio Vespa 150.
