Two new scooters from Hero MotoCorp next year

Hero is planning to launch two new scooters next year, and to meet demands, the company is planning to ramp up their scooter production to 1 lakh units by January 2015 and upto 1.5 lakh units by mid next year. Current scooter manufacturing capacity is 80,000 units / month. The companies sixth plant in Andhra Pradesh is also under construction.

Hero MotoCorp revealed plenty of new two-wheelers at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo. Out of all the new unveils, we think that the Hero Zir and Hero Dare could be these two new scooters to be launched next year.

The Zir will be powered by a 157.1cc, liquid-cooled engine producing 14 BHP of power @ 8,500 RPM and 12.7 Nm of torque @ 7,000 RPM. The power scooter will get telescopic front forks and adjustable dual rear shock absorbers. Another segment first feature would be the addition of disc brakes both at the front and rear. It has a fuel tank capacity of 9 litres with 2.5 litres as useable reserve. Kerb weight of the Zir is 139 kg.

The Hero Dare scooter is powered by a 124.6cc forced air cooled engine producing 9.4 BHP of power @ 7500 RPM & 9.8 Nm of torque @ 6500 RPM. The scooter gets telescopic front suspension and single shock absorber at the back. Comes with a 200mm disc brake at the front, drum at the back with 6 litres of fuel tank capacity and 1.8 litre usable reserve. The dare has a kerb weight of 114 kg and the digital instrument cluster provides service & side stand reminder.Next year will reveal the story about what Hero MotoCorp actually brings to the market.
