Triumph planning Roadster & Scrambler 250cc bikes?

Written by Kanad Kalasur

After unveiling the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400 X, Triumph is already working on 250cc motorcycles. According to a media report, the 250 Roadster and 250 Scrambler bikes could be the next products launched in the highly competitive Indian market.

Triumph’s 250cc Roadster and Scrambler

The official website of the British brand listed what could possibly be the names of the upcoming 250cc segment motorcycles. The names were listed alongside other offerings like the Trident, Roadster 400 and Scrambler 400 and others. The Roadster 400 is nothing but the Speed 400, which was recently unveiled.

With the pricing of the 400 range of bikes starting from INR 2.23 lakh, they are going head on with the Royal Enfield Classic 350. However, the Indian bike maker’s Hunter 350 undercuts the Speed 400 by quite a margin. This means, Triumph can launch a product that can sit below the 400 range.

These 250cc models can not only keep the Royal Enfield bikes in check but also compete with the likes of Honda CB350 and Jawa.

Features on the Triumph’s 250cc Roadster and Scrambler

If the Triumph Speed 400 is anything to go by, we can expect a similar level of kit on the smaller siblings. This could include all-LED lighting, bar-end mirrors, switchable traction control and Bosch dual-channel ABS. The bikes could also get the semi-digital instrument cluster. It offers information like the gear position indication, distance to empty and other warning lights. There could be a USB-C socket for charging phones or accessories.

Powertrain of the Triumph 250cc range of bikes

This could be an all-new 250cc motor. This could get a single cylinder and generate power and torque numbers lower than the 400 bikes. We can expect this engine to develop 30 HP and 25 Nm.

Expect the 250 range to be highly localised as well. This will result in better servicing costs, lower prices for the bike as well as faster availability of spares. All this will lead to better customer satisfaction.
