Renault HBC compact-suv to rival Hyundai Venue spotted testing

Compact-SUVs are very popular in the Indian market, and Renault is getting ready with their product for this segment. Known as the Renault HBC, this sub-4 metre product which will rival the Hyundai Venue, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon and the upcoming Kia QYi has been spotted testing for the first time. Renault will reveal the HBC compact-SUV at the upcoming Auto Expo 2020 to be held in New Delhi, India.

While the car is completely camouflaged and very little of the exterior design is visible; we can still make out that the front fascia will meet the current trend with the turn indicators mounted along the bonnet shut line, but the headlamp will be positioned low below just like the Hyundai Venue does on the bumpers. Fog lamps were not to be seen on this test mule, but should be a part of the standard kit when launched. The car clearly shows the silhouette of the Renault badg e which is also covered in camouflage, and seems like a BIG logo. At the back, we can make out the presence of a sharkfin antenna, rear wash + wipe, roof mounted spoiler and LED tail lamps. There also seems to be a healthy dose of body cladding which is jutting out from the camouflage tapes.

Interiors of the car are barely visible, but from the exterior front angle you can notice that there could be a floating effect touchscreen infotainment on offer. Also, the car seemed to sport dark themed, all-black interiors on the test car.

The Renault HBC compact-SUV will be the 3rd product to be based on the CMF-A+ chassis platform and it has been developed by Renault and Nissan for emerging markets. The Renault Triber is also based on the same platform. We expect Renault to introduce the HBC SUV with a 1.0L, 3-cylinder, turbo-petrol motor which is codenamed as HR10 and it could pump out close to 100 horsepower. But these specs are mere assumptions for now.

Just a few days more till Renault finally takes the wraps off the HBC.
