Nissan Kicks confirmed for launch this year

There hasn’t been a new Nissan car launch in years. The Japanese brand has been focusing on Datsun in recent times, but collectively, both brands are not really doing wonders. Now, seems like things are being taken seriously, and Nissan is gearing up to launch the Kicks for India in 2018. When launched, the Kicks from Nissan will rival the likes of Hyundai Creta & Renault Captur.

We’re expecting the Kicks to be powered by the same engine options seen on the Captur. This includes the tried and tested 1.5L K9K dCi diesel engine producing 110 PS of power and 240 Nm of torque along with the 1.5L H4K petrol motor producing 106 PS of power and 142 Nm of torque. The Kicks will be a premium crossover, and 4×4 or AWD is not expected, at least initially.

Pricing could be in the range of INR 10 – 15 lakh, ex-showroom.

The Kicks is unlike any other Nissan vehicle currently on sale, and that is a good thing. The brand desperately needs a new car to attract customers. The likes of Micra, Sunny & Terrano are not dated products with nothing good enough to wow the audience. The Kicks though hasn’t been spotted frequently on the Indian streets, undergoing road tests. So it is unclear when the car would actually launch.

Expect the Nissan Kicks by the festive season of 2018 or towards the end of the year. By the way? Do you like what you see? How much of a premium you would pay for the Kicks, over the Terrano? Or are you expecting pricing to stay the same & competitive?
