A new report suggests that Maruti Suzuki is working on a new SUV which would measure over 4-metres in length. Currently, the brand has the Vitara Brezza compact-SUV & the S-Cross crossover on sale in our market. This new SUV would be a premium product, and would slot in the Nexa portfolio.

There might be a possibility that this new SUV is the larger Vitara which was spotted a few times on Indian soil. However, things are uncertain & even the officials are tight-lipped. This new SUV is still some time away, and expect a launch not before 2019. However, Maruti Suzuki could show a concept version at the upcoming 2018 Auto Expo.

The Vitara in markets overseas comes powered by 1.6L petrol & diesel engine options. In India, we’ve seen the 1.6L diesel engine recently on the S-Cross, before it was withdrawn from the facelift. Also, the bigger SUV from Maruti Suzuki could feature the AllGrip 4×4 system.

Maruti Suzuki with over 50% market share in the Indian auto sector has a strong hold & understanding over what the customer desires. So when this new & larger SUV is on sale, conventional UV brands like Mahindra better be ready for a setback.
