Maruti Suzuki Ciaz sales cross 3 Lakh milestone; fastest in the sedan segment

Maruti Suzuki Ciaz has now clocked three lakh sales figures. Launched way back in 2014, Ciaz is one of the most popular models in its segment. Being a Maruti Suzuki the Ciaz has helped the brand garner sales across various towns and cities across the country. The main USP of the Ciaz is its spacious rear seats alongside its elegant exterior styling. This also makes Ciaz one of the most popular sedans for the chauffeur-driven market when it was available with the diesel powertrain. Having said that, with only the petrol engine also selling in great numbers. Maruti Suzuki also registered sales of  2,146 units of the Ciaz in August 2021.

Engine And Powertrain Options

After the stringent BS6 emission norms kicked in, Maruti Suzuki decided to part their way with the diesel powertrain. Thus, the Ciaz now only gets one petrol power unit. This is the 1.5-litre unit that comes with Suzuki’s Smart Hybrid tech and makes 105 BHP. There are two gearboxes on offer, a 5-speed manual and an automatic in the form of a torque converter unit. There are rumours suggesting that Maruti Suzuki could soon bring diesel powertrain into its lineup. And if that happens, we can expect a diesel version of the Ciaz as well.

Features And Exterior Design

The front fascia looks quite attractive with the project headlamps and the elongated bonnet. The rear profile gets LED taillamps and a trunk lid spoiler to complement the overall design of the sedan. The Ciaz measures 4,490 mm in length 1,730 mm in width, and 1,485 mm in height. The car gets all the necessary features as per today’s standards. This includes projector headlight setup, automatic climate control, a rear armrest, rear AC vents and more.

Other convenience features include keyless entry, navigation system, engine start-stop button and cruise control. But when compared to its rivals, it does miss out on some features. One of these popular features is an electric sunroof, which is one of the most demanded in the segment. Other missing features include 6 airbags, wireless charging and a fully digital instrument cluster.

Price Details

Ciaz is offered with four trims namely, Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha. The Ciaz is also offered in a sporty Ciaz S variant. These trims also further bifurcate into five manual gearbox options and three trims for the automatic gearbox. Thus making a total of 8 variants. The base trim Sigma has a sticker price of INR 8.72 lakh ex-showroom, meanwhile, the fully-loaded Alpha automatic retails at INR 11.71 lakh ex-showroom.
