Honda begins mass production of 2nd generation Amaze, watch the video

Honda’s all-new 2nd generation Amaze is all set for a market launch on the 16th of this month. The brand first showcased the car to us at the Auto Expo 2018 and we’ve already shared a review with you guys to understand the car better. The Japanese manufacturer has now announced the mass production of this car at their Tapukara plant in Rajasthan.

Deliveries of the all-new Amaze will begin from May 16th 2018, right from the very day of the launch.

While Honda has now announced pricing yet, the brand reveals that the first 20,000 customers for the car will get a special introductory price tag. So expect the pricing of the Amaze to go up as soon as next month or the month after that given how this segment generates volumes. Honda is sure that the new Amaze will be a game changer for them.

Powering the new 2018 Honda Amaze are familiar 1.2L petrol and 1.5L Diesel engine options. However, both motors have been reworked for better efficiency. The 1.2L 4-cylinder petrol motor produces 90 PS of power @ 6000 RPM and 110 Nm of torque @ 4800 RPM. Engine comes matched to a 5-speed manual or 7-step CVT automatic gearbox. Along with reducing overall friction in this petrol block, Honda has also reworked the V-TEC technology for better combustion resulting in lower fuel consumption. Honda claims that the petrol motor can deliver 19.5 kmpl of mileage in manual and 19.0 kmpl of mileage with the CVT gearbox.

The 1.5L iDTEC Diesel engine produces 100 PS of power @ 3600 RPM and 200 Nm of torque @ 1750 RPM matched to a 5-speed manual or a 7-step CVT gearbox. But interestingly, the diesel motor is detuned for the CVT automatic. The 2018 Honda Amaze diesel CVT produces 80 PS of power @ 3600 RPM and 160 Nm of torque @ 1750 RPM. That’s a full 20 PS & 40 Nm lower, which will surely reflect when driving enthusiastically. Honda claims that the smooth & linear nature of the CVT demanded this retuning. Honda has redesigned the pistons, block, oil pump & chain system along with a new engine head cover on this 1.5L diesel motor which has made it efficient and less noisy than before. Honda claims that the new Amaze diesel can deliver 27.4 kmpl mileage in manual and 23.8 kmpl mileage in the CVT automatic gearbox.

Honda first brought the Amaze nameplate to India in 2013. It was also the first Honda car in India to get a diesel motor.
