Citroën Basalt Vision SUV Coupé concept revealed for India, arriving in 2nd half of 2024

Citroen has taken the wraps off its new Compact SUV Coupe for the Indian and South American market. The Citroen Basalt Vision is a new compact SUV Coupe concept which will make its debut in the second half of 2024. Citroen also reveals that the Basalt will be locally produced and follows on from the C3 and C3 Aircross. The new model also marks a new beginning for the the French manufacturer’s offensive in the international markets.

Citroen Basalt Vision Concept – Design

The Citroen Basalt Vision compact SUV coupe concept features a muscular crossover design. The Basalt is a new concept in the B segment and both the dynamism of coupe and the robustness of an SUV. The Crossover SUV comes with distinctive geometric shapes on its sides and coupe-like rear trailing edge.

The Basalt also features a high bonnet and high ground clearance. The compact coupe SUV gets an upright front end, wide wings and flared trapezoidal wheel arches. The exteriors not only bring in bold aesthetics but the sleek silhouette also offers aerodynamic efficiency. The bold exterior design is also complemented by the spacious interiors on the 5-door saloon.

Citroen Basalt Vision Concept – What’s In the Name?

Citroen reveals that the unique silhouette concept and its unique positioning at the crossroads justifies its Basalt name. The brand also revealed that, though the crossover is now a concept, the Basalt moniker will be retained when it goes on sale. Citroen also reveals that the Basalt which is a volcanic rock is born of the energy of the earth and is the promise of robustness. The Basalt name also represent the car’s reliability, endurance and resistance, reveals Citroen.

The Citroen Basalt will be the third vehicle under the C-Cubed Programme and follows on the C3 and C3 Aircross. All three cars are based on the same Smart Car platform. More details on the same will be revealed soon.
