2022 Mahindra XUV300 facelift spotted road testing

Written by Rohit Tonapi

Although Mahindra is primarily focusing on electric SUVs, it is not ignoring the ICE-powered ones. The brand continues testing the all-electric XUV400, which it plans to launch in September. Now, new spy shots have emerged that show that Mahindra is not ignoring the ICE-powered XUV300 and giving the compact SUV a facelift.

2022 Mahindra XUV300 Facelift Spy Shots – What Do We See?

The XUV300 is all set to be the fourth product in Mahindra’s lineup to get the new Twin Peaks logo. The logo made its debut on the XUV700. The following models to get it are the Scorpio-N and the Scorpio Classic. The test mule is devoid of any camouflage except for at the front end of the SUV. At the rear, we only see the logo covered.

The XUV300 will continue to get the same projector headlight units. The lower air dam and grille also seem identical to the current one. However, since Mahindra is keeping it under wraps, expect it to have a different design. Confirming that it will get the new logo are the alloy wheels. The 17-inch alloy wheels clearly show the Twin Peaks logo on their hub caps. Upon closer inspection, one can also see the T-GDI badging on the front fender. Thus, though it might not be a big update visually, a new motor could increase its appeal further.

2022 Mahindra XUV300 Facelift – What Do We Know?

Sources suggest that Mahindra could offer a new dark blue exterior colour option with a contrasting white roof. Unlike many of the dual-tone offerings in the country, Mahindra chooses to offer the XUV300 with a white-coloured roof instead of a black-coloured one.

As for the engine, Mahindra first showcased the T-GDI engine at the 2020 Auto Expo. Mahindra dubbed it the Sports variant. The brand clearly had plans to introduce the engine option in India, but the pandemic slowed things down. The new engine gets an updated turbocharger and a different engine map. It results in a power figure of 130 BHP and a torque figure of 230 Nm. Thus, making it 20 BHP and 30 Nm more than the current one.

Sources suggest Mahindra could launch the 2022 XUV300 facelift either in Diwali or early 2023. The model could also get additional features that will increase prices slightly. The new T-GDI motor will make it the most powerful model in its segment. It will then be ready to go up against the Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon and the Maruti Brezza.
