Hyundai has shown some interest in venturing into the premium car segment in India with the Genesis. However, this hasn’t turned into reality till now. The brand claims that they will study the market more before rivaling the likes of BMW 5-Series, Mercedes-Benz E-Class. Genesis has now emerged as a stand-alone brand from Hyundai and the new journey of this has led to the company creating a future road-map of their products. Data has leaked online revealing the upcoming models.
Looking at the road map it is clear that there will be 6 Genesis models in the coming years. Out of these 6 which would hit the streets by 2020, almost 3 models could be out on the streets by 2017.
Products include the G90 (a successor of G80 sedan) followed by the G70 luxury sedan which essentially is a entry level rival to cars like Audi A4, Mercedes-Benz C-Class and BMW 3-Series.
Other products will include a coupe and two SUV’s. The SUVs could be similar in scale to the Santa Fe & Tucson, but will be loaded with features to command premium pricing.
Hyundai is rather ambitious about this project with multiple products being launched. Will people accept a Hyundai product at such high pricing, even though badged as a Genesis? Time will tell…
