Volkswagen has revealed the Ameo compact-sedan to the Indian audience twice already and is gearing up for a commercial launch in the near future.
Based on the PQ25 platform shared with the Polo, Volkswagen is confident that the Ameo will bring them incremental sales.
The variant spotted had a ‘TDI’ badge on the boot along with an automatic gear stick inside hinting that the Ameo makes use of the same 1.5L, turbocharged, 4-cylinder diesel motor coupled to a 7-speed DSG gearbox like the Polo and Vento.
Spotted testing here is the top spec trim given that it comes equipped with features such as alloy wheels, cruise control, rain sensing wipers, rear view camera with parking sensors, touchscreen infotainment, climate control, electric adjustment & folding for ORVM, cooled glovebox, auto dimming IRVM, tilt & telescopic steering wheel, static cornering lights, alloy wheels, driver armrest, rear AC vent, etc.
All variants of the Ameo will come equipped with ABS & dual front airbags as standard.
The compact-sedan is built at the German manufacturers production plant at Chakan, in Maharashtra.
