The Impulse was a very interesting product launch by Hero MotoCorp back in the day. The only bike in its class, the Impulse gathered enough attention from the enthusiasts. However, the engine felt a bit poor for all the tasks owners put the bike through. Now, after numerous rumours, it is being said that a 200cc Impulse will be launched by Hero MotoCorp in 2018.
There will be 2 bikes planned in the 200cc category. While one is expected to be a fully-faired motorcycle, could be based on the Hero Xtreme 200s; the other is going to be the very capable Impulse.
Powering the bike would be a 200cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled, fuel-injected, 4-stroke petrol motor that could product power close to 19 PS & 18 Nm torque. The bike will come with all the latest features such as LED headlamps, LED DRLs, LED tail lamp, digital console, disc brakes, and may be ABS or CBS.
Hero considers the premium motorcycle segment as its priority for now, as they already have enough hold in the commuter segment below. With the market evolving to faster & different types of motorcycles, bringing back the Impulse makes sense now, as back then, there were very few buyers for it.
Would you buy a 200cc Impulse next year? Or wait for the KTM Adventure 390 and increase your budget to get one?
