Zero Motorcycles could be planning to launch its electric range of motorcycles in the Indian market. The brand has been spotted testing the FXE electric motorcycle in Karnataka which leads us to believe that the supermoto bike could make its debut here in India soon. The test mule appears sans camouflage, however, had parts such as a saree guard missing on it. However, a high mount front registration plate could be seen on the test bike.
Will it be Manufactured in India for Exports?
At this point we can only speculate that the brand will launch the bike in India as it does not appear to be going through the homologation process. But, Hero MotoCorp in the past had revealed that the brand has been investing heavily into the California-based brand and could manufacture Zero Motorcycles’ bikes here in our country. Thanks to Zero’s electric powertrain expertise and Hero’s ability to scale up manufacturing, both brand’s could benefit from each other, if India becomes the manufacturing hub for Zero Motorcycles.
Design & Features
Design-wise, the Zero Motorcycles FXE appears to be a supermoto motorcycle with a rounded front headlamp with an integrated high mount front fender. In addition to this, the FXE also comes with a long bench seat that would allow the rider to adjust their position easily while riding trails. But, the tyres on the supermoto bike appear to be road-biased. The fuel tank also features a sharp design and the tail cowl gets an integrated rear fender along with a taillamp.
Powertrain, Range & Performance
In the international market, the Zero Motorcycles FXE comes powered by a mid-mounted electric motor delivering 46 Hp of power and 106 Nm of torque. Paired to the battery is likely to be a 7.2 kWh battery pack that will be capable of returning a range of around 170 km on a single charge. Also, the Zero Motorcycles FXE is likely to offer a top speed of around 137 Kmph.
