Written by Nizam Shaikh

US-based electric mobility solutions company Zaiser Motors has unveiled a new ‘Electrocycle’ cruiser. The story goes like this, two co-founders of the company looking out to buy electric motorcycles. They were disappointed by what was available in the electric mobility market. Realising that they can build an advanced, efficient, safer and affordable cruiser, and this is how the Zaiser Electrocycle was born.

Design & Styling

The brand claims that it has redefined the design criteria for electric motorcycles. The company’s focus is on sustainability, safety and the right to repair. Using these as their pillars, Zaiser boasts of having an advantage over conventional electric motorcycles currently available in the market. The Kaiser Electrocycle comes with an unconventional design language featuring a sinister retro look. The cruiser features a rounded headlamp, a teardrop tank that flows into the bench seat, and a larger rear fender.

The motorcycle also features a squared-off area in the middle which houses the battery and electronic components. The Electrocycle also features an eccentric design for the taillamps and long overhangs. The Zaiser Electrocycle comes with a large instruments screen with rounded display units on the fork caps. The Electrocycle gets a pleated seat design and clip-on style handlebars.

Zaiser Electrocycle Powertrain

The unique feature of the Zaiser Electrocycle, which sets it apart from other electric motorcycles, is not its design but its unique twin-hub powertrain. Yes, a two-wheel-drive electric bike. The two hub motors draw power from a 17.3 kWh battery pack that returns a range of 300 miles (483 km) on a single charge. The electric motors are also powerful enough to propel the motorcycle to a top speed of 120 mph (193 km/h).

The Electrocycle can accelerate from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in just 3.6 seconds. The twin-hub motors also claim to provide auto stabilisation and traction control. The Electrocycle also comes with interchangeable battery units that can be removed and taken home for charging. The motorcycle also comes with a fast-charging system and boasts to ease the range anxiety in customers.

Launch Timeline and Price

The brand has announced that the Zaiser Electrocycle will be available by early 2022 and cost under USD 25,000. To put things into perspective, the Harley-Davidson LiveWire comes with a price tag of USD 29,799 and the Tesla Model 3 is priced at USD 33,990.
