Yezdi teasers continue, launch in India soon

Written by Nizam Shaikh

Classic Legends, the company which revived the Jawa Motorcycle brand, is now planning to bring back the Yezdi brand as well. The defunct Yezdi brand has a solid cult in the Indian two-wheeler industry. The brand has followers across different age groups. The brand is currently testing at least two motorcycles in the Indian market. Yezdi is likely to make its debut in early 2022. The brand has already started off with a taser campaign which leads us to believe that the launch date is pretty soon.

Yezdi New Teaser

Yezdi has released a new teaser via the microblogging site Twitter, under its official handle “YEZDIFOREVER.” The new teaser showcases a silhouette of a new motorcycle with codes trickling down from the popular Wachowski Brother’s movie Matrix Resurrection. The teaser was released on the 21st December 2021, which was just a day before the movie release in India. The brand could be hinting that just like the movie, Classic Legends will resurrect Yezdi in the Indian market.

Interestingly, the silhouette of the motorcycle reveals an adventure motorcycle, which Yezdi could name Roadking. The brand has already registered the name “Roadking” at the Indian Intellectual Property Office. On the other hand, Yezdi could also launch another motorcycle in the scrambler segment. However, the brand has not officially revealed the name. However, the bike has been spotted testing in the Indian market on numerous occasions. In fact, images of the development mules testing in India have emerged on the internet.

Yezdi Powertrain

The brand is likely to use the power unit from the Jawa motorcycle line-up. Rumours are that both the motorcycles will be using the Jawa Perak’s 334cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine. The engine produces 30 Bhp of power and 32.7 Nm of torque. The BS6 compliant engine also comes with a 6-speed gearbox and wet-multi-plate clutch.

Yezdi Motorcycles Competition

The Yezdi adventure motorcycle will likely compete with the KTM 250 Adventure, the Royal Enfield Himalayan and the likes. The scrambler is likely to compete with the Honda CB350 RS and the likes.
