Yamaha has been teasing motorcycle enthusiasts in India with the XSR 155 since a few years. Despite the high demand, Yamaha has yet to officially confirm the launch of the XSR 155 in India. The company introduced the FZ X, a version based on the FZ FI, but it did not perform as well as expected. This has led to speculation that Yamaha might finally bring the XSR 155 to India to cater to the market’s demand.

Yamaha XSR 155 – Design and Features

The bike features a neo-retro design, combining classic styling with modern technology. It features a round LED headlamp, teardrop-shaped fuel tank, and minimalist tail section. The bike comes with dual-purpose tyres, a digital instrument console, and a slipper clutch. The design is inspired by Yamaha’s larger XSR models, giving it a unique and appealing look.

Built around the Deltabox frame, it is powered by a 155cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that produces 18.1 bhp and 14.2 Nm of torque. The bike also comes with a six-speed gearbox, USD forks, a monoshock, and dual-channel ABS.

Potential Competitors

If launched, the XSR 155 will compete with other 150 cc motorcycles which consist mostly of street motorcycles. In the neo-retro segment, it will face competition from the Kawasaki W175. The other street bikes include the Suzuki Gixxer 155, TVS Apache 160R, the Bajaj Pulsar 150-160 series and the Hero Xpulse.

The XSR 155 is expected to be priced higher than the MT 15 V2, with an estimated price of around INR 1.80 lakh. The bike’s neo-retro design, combined with its performance-oriented features, makes it an attractive option for new riders.
