Yamaha will launch MT-15 based on YZF-R15 V3.0 in India

Spotted testing in India, the image you see below is the Yamaha MT-15. This bike will be launched in India later this year, and will be a naked sibling to the YZF-R15 V3.0. The Yamaha MT-15 will share most of its components with the R15 V3 to keep costs in check, and might also lose some to justify the pricing.

From what we can see in the images, the Yamaha MT-15 will not get the same rear swing arm like the Yamaha R15 V3.0. We’re expecting the pricing of the MT-15 to undercut the KTM Duke 125, which will make it difficult for KTM since the MT-15 will be a far more powerful bike. Powering the MT-15 will be the same 155cc, liquid-cooled motor mounted on a deltabox chassis producing 18.7 BHP power and 15 Nm of torque. The highlight is that this motor comes with VVA, which helps in performance. This bike will become the most superior 150cc class motorcycle when launched.

The Yamaha MT-15 will get LED headlamps, LED tail lamps, conventional telescopic front fork, rear monoshock, multi-spoke alloy wheels, digital instrument console, contoured step-up seats, engine underbelly cowl, tank cowls, sculpted fuel tank with shrouds and rear tyre hugger.

The Yamaha MT-15 when launched, will arguably be the most styling motorcycle in its class.
