Yamaha MT-09 gets another facelift, could arrive in India

Yamaha has unveiled the highly anticipated third generation of this popular model. The 2024 MT-09 promises a radical transformation, featuring a fresh new face, improved riding position, and upgraded electronics, marking a new era in the world of naked bikes.

What’s new in the 2024 Yamaha MT-09?

The bike showcases a striking new bodywork and styling, incorporating sleek LED lights, a sportier riding position, enhanced steering geometry, upgraded brakes, a new dashboard, and intuitive switchgear. Notably, the bike now includes advanced features such as cruise control, elevating its appeal among motorcycle enthusiasts.

Inspired by Yamaha’s YZ motocrossers, the new MT-09 boasts a slim, sharp look. The design evolution includes a redesigned fuel tank, a cutting-edge LED front light cluster featuring a projector headlamp and twin riding lights, and an innovative rear LED unit with distinct tail and brake lights. The bike’s riding position has been meticulously updated, featuring lower and adjustable handlebars, rear-set and higher footrests, and a redesigned two-piece seat for enhanced comfort.

Features of the 2024 Yamaha MT-09

The technological advancements are equally impressive. The 2024 MT-09 introduces a five-inch TFT dashboard and advanced switchgear, offering four different themes and seamless integration with Yamaha’s MyRide app and Garmin’s StreetCross satnav app system. Additionally, riders can personalize their experience with three standard riding modes and two custom modes, allowing adjustments to power, traction, and slide control settings, among others.

Powertrain and Hardware of the 2024 Yamaha MT-09

The core powerhouse of the bike remains unchanged from its 2021 predecessor, boasting the iconic 117 BHP ‘CP3’ three-cylinder engine and a cast aluminum Deltabox frame.
Meanwhile, the bike’s performance is further enhanced by the inclusion of cruise control, Back Slip Regulator for improved braking, a Brembo radial master cylinder, and Bridgestone’s latest Battlax Hypersport S23 tires. Yamaha’s commitment to delivering an exceptional auditory experience is reflected in the acoustic amplifier grille designed to enhance the exhaust note.

Availability of the Yamaha MT-09

The 2024 Yamaha MT-09 will be available in three captivating colors: Midnight Cyan, Icon Blue, and Tech Black. While the price and availability details are yet to be revealed, the unveiling of the third-generation MT-09 marks a significant leap forward in the evolution of naked bikes, redefining standards in terms of design, technology, and performance.

That said, there are no updates yet on the bike’s India launch.
