India Yamaha Motor (IYM) has launched the 2025 FZ-S Fi Hybrid, marking a significant milestone as the first hybrid motorcycle in the 150cc segment. 2025 Yamaha FZ-S Fi Hybrid – powertrain and new features
The FZ-S Fi Hybrid is powered by a 149cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that delivers 12.4 PS at 7,250 rpm and 13.3 Nm of torque at 5,500 rpm. The engine is paired with Yamaha’s Smart Motor Generator (SMG), which provides battery-assisted acceleration. This system reduces the load on the engine during low-speed acceleration and stop-and-go traffic, improving responsiveness and fuel efficiency. The Stop & Start System (SSS) further enhances efficiency by shutting off the engine when idling and restarting it with a quick clutch action.
The hybrid motorcycle complies with OBD2B regulations and supports E20 fuel, making it future-ready. Yamaha has not disclosed official mileage figures but claims the hybrid system offers better fuel efficiency than the standard petrol-only FZ-S.
2025 Yamaha FZ-S Fi Hybrid – design
In terms of design, the FZ-S Fi Hybrid retains its muscular stance with sharper tank covers and integrated front turn signals. It features a 4.2-inch full-color TFT instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity via the Y-Connect app. This app provides turn-by-turn navigation, call and SMS alerts, and other smart features. The bike also includes LED lighting, a side-stand engine cut-off, and traction control.
The FZ-S Fi Hybrid is available in two color options: Racing Blue and Cyan Metallic Grey. Yamaha has also made ergonomic improvements, such as repositioned handlebars and switchgear for better accessibility, even with gloves. The bike has a seat height of 790 mm, ground clearance of 165 mm, and a kerb weight of 138 kg.
