Yamaha launches 2018 YZF-R3 in India for INR 3.48 lakh at Auto Expo 2018

At the ongoing Indian Auto Expo 2018, Yamaha has brought in a surprise. While the all-new YZF-R15 V3.0 was launched 2 days back, the brand has today announced the re-launch of the YZF-R3 here in India. And this time, it is a well rounded package. The new 2018 Yamaha YZF-R3 has been priced at INR 3.48 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

The biggest change on the new 2018 Yamaha R3 is that the bike now comes with a BS-IV compliant motor, gets dual-channel ABS as standard, and now runs on grippy Metzeler M5 tyres. To all problems with the old R3 have now been fixed, and thus, this becomes the most powerful, reliable & desired sports tourer in its segment.

Powering the Yamaha YZF-R3 is a 321cc, parallel-twin, 4-vale, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected motor producing 41.9 HP of power @ 10,750 RPM and 29.6 Nm of torque @ 9,000 RPM matched to a 6-speed gearbox. Other equipment on the motorcycle includes a 41mm Kayaba front fork, rear monoshock with pre-load adjustment, 140 section rear & 110 section Michelin tyres, digital + analogue instrument console & LED tail lamps.

We wish that the bike came with LED headlamps with this update, since the smaller Yamaha YZF-R15 V3.0 gets it.

Apart from this, the other change is the colour options. Yamaha will retail the YZF-R3 in Racing Blue or Magma Black colour options.

Compared to the older (discontinued) model, the 2018 YZF-R3 in India asks for nearly INR 22,000 more. But this is justified with the addition of ABS & Michelin tyres.

So, are you heading to the showrooms? We can’t wait to get our hands on the new R3!
