Volvo will go FULL ELECTRIC from 2030 with online sales only

A few days ago, Volvo announced that the brand will be opening the bookings for the Volvo XC40 Recharge in the Indian market from June 2021 followed by the all-electric SUVs market launch. The brand also confirmed that as part of the brand’s sustainability initiatives Volvo strives to become a carbon-neutral brand by the year 2040. To achieve this Volvo will be selling only electric cars in the near future and the company also plans to have only Green dealerships in India as well as the global market.

Volvo’s Sustainability Plans

To achieve carbon neutrality the Swedish brand plans to sell only electric vehicles in their portfolio and Volvo also confirmed that the company will be phasing out all the internal combustion engine vehicles by 2030. Surprisingly this also includes electric hybrid vehicles, meaning Volvo will become a 100% electric vehicle manufacturer by the end of this decade. This move is in-line with the company’s Global Climate Plan, which seeks to consistently decrease the life cycle carbon footprint per car through a definitely directed motion.

Volvo’s Future Plans to Go Electric

The brand also confirms that it will be launching one electric car every year in the Indian market and by 2030, starting with the Volvo XC40 Recharge, a fully electric vehicle that saw a good response in the global market as well. Recently, Volvo’s second 100% electric vehicle the C40 Recharge also broke cover in the international market showing the brand’s commitment to a zero-emission future. The Volvo C40 Recharge will also be available to order only via the digital sales network, under the Green Dealership initiative. Furthermore, the brand will also be training its dealership workforce to become familiar with electric car technology.

Volvo’s Electric Vehicle Sales

Volvo plans to double its volumes in the next two years and become a leader in the fast-growing premium electric car market and by the year 2025, the company boasts that 80% of its annual sales will constitute electric cars. Volvo will also be focussing on online sales to bring a complete and transparent offer to its customers, in the move towards electrification.
