Volvo S90 sedan discontinued in India?

Volvo Cars India has removed the Volvo S90 luxury sedan from the brand’s sales portfolio in India. This leads us to believe that the brand could have discontinued the S90 in the Indian market. It can also mean that Volvo is planning the bring in the updated version of the Volvo S90. The brand had revealed the 2020 Volvo S90 at the beginning of 2020.

In the Indian market, Volvo sold the S90 in the D4 Inscription trim priced at INR 58.90 lakh ex-showroom. Powering the Volvo S90 D4 Inscription was a 2.0-litre diesel motor. The engine made 190 Hp of power and 400 Nm of torque. The engine came with an 8-speed automatic transmission and a front-wheel-drive architecture. The brand also limited the top speed of the sedan to 230 kmph. If Volvo plans to launch the mid-cycle update S90 in India, the sedan is likely to come with a new Plug-in Hybrid technology.

2020 Volvo S90 Features

The new model features the same double tick mark LED daytime running lights and a new single ‘C’ shaped LED illumination and 3D elements on the taillamps. The new model also gets revised front and rear bumpers, new design alloy wheels and new exterior paint options. The Volvo S90 comes with a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a Bower & Wilkins audio system. The car also gets 4-zone climate control and an advanced air purifier rated to Particulate Matter 2.5. Other features include a 12.3-inch colour driver’s display, electric sun curtain, Nappa leather seat upholstery, illuminated door sill moulding and more.

Safety and Volvo have been synonymous with each other for a long time and the S90 comes with all the bells and whistles in the department. The car features multiple airbags, Side Impact Protection System (SIPS) airbags and inflatable curtains. The car also gets collision mitigation support, lane assist, pilot assists and adaptive cruise control. As well as park assist pilot, 360-degree camera, emergency brake assist (EBA), ISOFIX child seat anchorage system and more.
