Written by Nizam Shaikh

Volvo Cars India will be increasing the ex-showroom prices, ranging INR 1 lakh to 2 lakh effective from 3rd May 2021. The price hike will include the luxury saloon S90 and the premium range of SUVs – XC40, XC 60 and XC90. Volvo reveals that the decision has come due to the weakening of the Indian Rupee (INR) and the rise in input costs.

Volvo Cars Price Hike

Back in 2018, the brand announced a similar price hike but maintained prices on the entire line-up until now. Volvo reveals that the currency situation in the Indian market is volatile and the COVID-19 situation has worsened the situations. The routine business setup is also hampered due to the pandemic. The pandemic has also had its effect on the forex situation over the years. Adding to this, the cost of production has also increased and hence this leaves the brand with no choice but to share some of these costs with the customer.
